He doesn't make it easy to like him either.
Pretty sure it's a defense mechanism.

walker is a good person, he is just very bad at saying good things
and good at saying bad things

Yup, that definitely sounds defense mechanism-y.
He gives of the vibes of someone who really wants to be liked but is also super afraid of being judged and hated so just kinda gives people a reason to that isn't... himself?

But for a man who acts like an ass that doesn't care about anyone but himself, he sure does seem to really wanna help people.
